Bose Institute, Kolkata has invited applications from eligible Indian citizens for one temporary Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a DST-sponsored research project. The position is available under the National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (NMSKCC).
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Sanat Kumar Das, Associate Professor, Department of Physical Sciences.

Project Title:
“Investigation of urban airborne bacteria and their impact on human health over metropolitan cities of Indo-Gangetic Plain in India”
The project focuses on investigating airborne bacteria in urban environments and understanding their potential impact on human health across metropolitan cities of the Indo-Gangetic Plain.
๐ Essential Qualification
- Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science, OR
- Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in a Professional Course.
- The candidate should have been selected through an eligible national-level selection process such as:
Route A – National Eligibility Tests
- CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship.
- GATE.
Route B – National-Level Examinations
Selection through national-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments, Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
```⭐ Desirable Qualification
- Minimum 55% marks in Master's degree in Life Sciences or Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
- Laboratory experience in DNA, RNA and/or protein extraction is preferable.
- The candidate must be willing and able to travel to remote areas for field-based atmospheric and biological sample collection.
๐ฌ Job Responsibilities
The selected JRF will be involved in several research activities, including:
- Formulating new research questions related to the project.
- Planning and conducting laboratory experiments.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Conducting on-field atmospheric and biological sample collection.
- Generating and organizing experimental data.
- Curating and analyzing large-scale genomic and metagenomic datasets.
- Interpreting experimental and computational results.
- Addressing the objectives of the ongoing research project.
- Preparing research reports and manuscripts as required.

Maximum Age: 28 years.
Age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates as per applicable Government rules.
